We were looking for a compact piece of furniture to replace an old sleeper sofa. We never cared for the look of the fold up wall murphy beds, and a friend told us about the cabinet alternative. We looked on Amazon and found this one. We really liked the look but were a bit deterred after reading some of the reviews describing damage during shipping and assembly instruction errors. After seeing free shipping on the direct website vs. Amazon, we decided to go for it! We saved $200 on shipping and took advantage of the online 10% off coupon code. We were thrilled for the extra savings!
The two boxes arrived without damage. They were shipped FedEx, so no third party shipping, which gave us more confidence. Everything was packaged with care and protection. The assembly instructions were a little overwhelming at first because of all the pieces, but my husband and I got through it and had the bed together in about 2 hours. As others recommended, we added wood glue to all dowels and used a power drill for all screws. My husband had the drill set so it wouldn't strip any. It all went very smoothly and we love the look and solid construction of this bed. I did purchase a 2" foam topper for the bed to add extra comfort. The mattress that came with it was a decent foam mattress, but not super thick, so I believe the foam topper will help my guests sleep more comfortably. We also love the large bottom drawer. It holds quite a bit! We were able to store a queen sheet set, quilt comforter and blanket, and two pillows in it.
Overall are very happy with our purchase and thankful our cabinet was not damaged. Would recommend.
I am pleasantly surprised by the quality and assembly of this cabinet bed. Putting it together took two people approximately four hours and the instructions were easy to follow and all the parts were included. We added wood glue to the dowels and drawer bottom to make it more stable. There was some light damage on a few of the panels, but they were in the back and not worth returning. The mattress is reasonably comfortable and with the addition of a topper should be fine. Overall, I am happy with this purchase.
This bed does exactly what I needed it to do - which is hide away a giant mattress in my tiny office/guest bedroom space. The general structure of the bed is sturdy, but the Bottom pullout drawer is a little on the "cheap" side materials wise. Otherwise this bed is great!!
I am very detail oriented and ordered this bed because of the clean finishing in the pictures and no random parts showing up as an eyesore. But the bed I received has the earful looking telescopic slide tracks on the side and the high contrast hinges all spread on the front edge of the headboard frame. In the picture the sides are supposed to be a flat panel and no hinges show on the frame.
Will address the issue with customer service and come back to comment on that experience.
