Received the bed, since it seemed to have over 300 pieces to put together, we waited until a handyman could schedule a time to put the bed together.
On that day, we opened the box and the back panel was cracked as well as the other side of that panel which people could see when opening the bed, the finish had scrapes or it just had blotches where the finish did not take all over it.
I emailed them with these pictures stating the above asking them to contact me to discuss if they were going to send another panel, us send the whole thing back or give us a credit of some sort.
I emailed and called them twice since 1/24 with absolutely no response. Their site says 24/7 excellent customer service and they have not even responded.
So, believe the bed will be great but the company has been horrible in resolving at least MY issue with the damage.
While there were a lot of pieces to assemble and it took hours to put it together I am very pleased with the finished product. It looks good, it is a space saver, it is easy to pull out and put away. My only complaint is the mattress is not thick enough so I purchased a three inch mattress topper which makes it very comfortable.
There was damage visible upon opening the box. It seemed manageable, and it's a nightmare sending these things back, so we decided to keep it and hope that was it. There were more damaged pieces buried as we got into it, which could only be accounted for by bad packaging. Unrelated to packaging and shipping, the assembly required lots of drilling holes where they should have been, aggressive sanding where things misaligned so much that key parts wouldn't fit together and gluing where something had broke in the factory. It doesn't even look very good - finishes are inconsistent (or not even fully finished), the bottom drawer is so misaligned with the rest it looks ridiculous, and after one week of use one of the handles on that drawer broke off. Don't buy, this is garbage, and not even that cheap. It's easy to hack Ikea assembly methods, but if you don't have the quality control, you just waste your customers time and money.
A couple of the locking screws broke and the holes for one of the handles didn’t line up so I had to file it a little bigger, other than that it’s great and my first guest said they slept well and the bed was perfect.
It was easy to assemble and sturdy enough. No complaints!
